Hyderabad: Director of the Telangana State Heritage Department, Professor Arjun Rao Kootadi, signed an MoU with seven government degree colleges in Sangareddy to boost heritage awareness among students.
He formalised the agreement with principals of the participating institutions as part of a targeted initiative. The Telangana Heritage programme focuses on engaging youth in conservation and cultural studies.
Officials said the initiative would build awareness of heritage and archaeology. It will also encourage students to explore and document local historical assets.
Telangana Heritage MoU expands student participation in conservation
The collaboration covers Government Degree Colleges at Sadasivpet, Zaheerabad, Narayankhed, and Jogipet. It also includes Government Tara Degree and PG College, Government Women’s Degree College in Sangareddy, and Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Government Degree College in Patancheru.
Under the MoU, colleges will establish Heritage Clubs to involve students in structured activities. They will also organise field visits, workshops, and seminars on heritage practices.
Further, the programme introduces students to excavation and exploration techniques. As a result, academic learning will connect with field exposure.
Professor Arjun Rao Kootadi said the initiative would deepen understanding of cultural values. He added that students would take a more active role in heritage protection.
Meanwhile, principals welcomed the collaboration and noted its impact on overall student development. They said such programmes strengthen both academic and practical learning.
Deputy Director Dr P Nagaraju, OSD Raju, and several faculty members attended the event along with students and officials.
