Hyderabad: The Medical and Health Services Recruitment Board on Saturday released results under the Telangana health recruitment drive, selecting 174 Assistant Professors for government medical colleges.
Officials said the selected candidates belonged to Gynecology, Anesthesia, Pediatrics and Orthopedics. The recruitment formed part of a larger process initiated last year to fill 607 vacant Assistant Professor posts. With these selections, the authorities have now completed recruitment for 174 posts.
The distribution included 90 posts in Gynecology, 44 in Anesthesia, 28 in Pediatrics and 12 in Orthopedics. Appointment letters will be distributed on April 7, marking World Health Day, by Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha.
Officials said the remaining 433 Assistant Professor posts would be filled within the next month. Moreover, the Telangana health recruitment drive has filled around 9,572 posts across categories in the past two and a half years.
Recruitment for another 7,562 posts is currently underway. In addition, final results for 692 Civil Assistant Surgeon (Specialist) posts are expected within a few days. Appointment letters for these posts may also be issued on April 7.
Authorities also said results for 2,312 Nursing Officer posts are likely within a week.
Telangana health recruitment drive and Health Week plans
The government will organise “Health Week” from April 6 to 11 under its Praja Palana Pragathi Pranalika. The programme will include awareness and service activities across Telangana.
The Minister reviewed the action plan with senior officials through a video conference. He directed departments to ensure effective coordination and wider public participation, especially among students, women and youth.
On April 6, the state will observe Food Safety Focus Day with an “Eat Right Walk” at Necklace Road and a Millet Mela at a naturopathy hospital. Training programmes for food handlers and hygiene certification will also be conducted.
April 7, World Health Day, will feature the launch of advanced LINAC cancer treatment services at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences. A major event at Ravindra Bharathi will include the launch of the Telangana Cancer Registry and Trauma Care Policy.
Officials will also introduce multiple health portals and distribute appointment letters to 871 doctors. In addition, the Centre of Excellence building at Erragadda will be inaugurated.
April 8 will focus on Safe Motherhood Day, with programmes at the Midwifery Training Institute in Boiguda and rural awareness drives. On April 9, AIDS awareness initiatives will include a “Red Run” in Hyderabad and health camps in prisons.
April 10 will mark AYUSH and Homeopathy Day with yoga sessions and seminars. Finally, April 11 will observe Drugs Control and Awareness Day with de-addiction programmes at Gandhi Hospital and student competitions.
Senior officials including Principal Secretary Dr. Christina Z. Chongthu and other department heads attended the review meeting. The Minister said the initiatives aim to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve public engagement under the Telangana health recruitment drive.
