Hyderabad: The Telangana government will hold a state funeral with full police honours for poet and lyricist Ande Sri, who died in Hyderabad on Monday. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy ordered officials to ensure the ceremony reflects the state’s respect for the poet.
Revanth Reddy directed the Chief Secretary to issue immediate instructions and arrange the funeral without delay. He said Telangana would forever remember Ande Sri for giving the state its anthem and cultural voice.
Officials begin coordination for Ande Sri’s funeral
The Hyderabad District Collector started coordination with the Ranga Reddy and Medchal District Collectors to plan the event. They will consult the poet’s family and finalise the arrangements.
The Hyderabad Police Commissioner and I&PR Commissioner Chekka Karnan began work on security, traffic control, and media coverage. The government assured that the funeral would be conducted with full honours and dignity.
