Telangana to get digital media policy soon: Ponguleti

Hyderabad: Minister for Revenue, Housing, and Information & Public Relations Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy told the State Legislative Council that Telangana will roll out a digital media policy within two to three months.

Ponguleti said the policy would address issues faced by journalists. At the same time, he assured that the government would ensure their safety and security.

He dismissed misconceptions around accreditation cards and said the government would issue them to all eligible journalists without discrimination.

Ponguleti outlines digital media policy roadmap

The minister said the government issued an initial Government Order and later sought inputs from journalists’ associations. Accordingly, it made necessary amendments based on feedback.

He said the government does not differentiate between desk and field journalists. Therefore, all categories would receive equal recognition.

On house site allocations, Ponguleti said the government would take a positive decision. He added that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had already clarified the issue.

He said the government is preparing an action plan to allocate house sites without legal complications.
