Telangana deploys 6,400 special buses to ease Sankranthi rush

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has deployed 6,400 special buses. This is to manage the anticipated surge in passenger traffic during the Sankranthi festival, Transport Department officials confirmed on Saturday.

The additional services will operate over a four-day period from major bus terminals in Hyderabad. These include Imlibun, Jubilee Bus Station (JBS), Aramghad, Uppal Cross Road, and LB Nagar. The initiative aims to reduce congestion and ensure uninterrupted travel for festival-bound commuters.

Of the total services, 5,400 buses will run under the state’s Mahalakshmi Scheme, allowing women to travel free of cost. The move is expected to benefit thousands of women traveling to their hometowns across Telangana.

To ensure the services operate smoothly, the Transport Department has deployed additional staff, real-time monitoring systems, and oversight teams. Regional Manager Srilatha emphasized the department’s commitment to providing safe, reliable, and efficient transport during the festive season.
