Hyderabad: Telangana is no longer merely trying to catch up with other Indian states – it’s setting its sights on the developed world. That was the emphatic message from Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, who addressed a packed national summit of CA students hosted by the Hyderabad branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) at Shilpakala Vedika on Thursday.
Calling Telangana a rising force on the global map, he said the state had positioned itself as a key hub for sectors like IT, pharma, AI, and textiles, with game-changing infrastructure projects like the Regional Ring Road, the Musi River revival, and the futuristic city plan already underway. “Telangana isn’t looking sideways at other states anymore. We’re looking straight ahead – at the world’s leading economies,” he said.
Highlighting Hyderabad’s role as a major centre for chartered accountants, he lauded the city’s growing significance within ICAI, with over 14,500 members and 31,000 students. “You are not just numbers or balance sheets – you are symbols of integrity, ability, and aspiration,” he told the audience of budding professionals.
Bhatti reassured CA students that Telangana holds immense opportunities for them. “This state offers a launchpad for your careers. Whether you choose practice, business, or public service, your impact will be felt,” he said.
He paid tribute to the ICAI’s foundational role in India’s financial ethics and economic discipline. “Since its formation in 1949, the ICAI has been a pillar of professional values and public trust,” he noted, commending its 4.26 lakh members and nearly a million students for forming a vital part of India’s financial strength.

Urging young accountants to uphold ethical standards in an age of rapid technological disruption, he said, “Your honesty is your greatest asset. In a world of AI and automation, integrity will always be irreplaceable.”
Bhatti also encouraged CA students to see themselves not just as job-seekers, but as future job-creators. “Some of you will go on to establish your own firms, generate employment, and play a central role in building the nation’s economy. Your journey doesn’t stop at passing exams – it’s a lifelong pursuit of excellence,” he said.
He called for their active participation in social audits, microenterprise support, and public finance planning, adding, “Your skills must go beyond profit – they must serve purpose.”
Emphasising the evolving role of accounting in the digital age, he urged students to stay current with developments in blockchain, AI, and digital taxation. “Your continued learning is not optional – it’s essential,” he said.
