Telangana cold wave intensifies; weather officials issue yellow alert

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad weather office issued a yellow alert as the Telangana cold wave strengthened after Diwali and minimum temperatures fell across several districts. Officials urged residents to stay cautious for the next two days as dry winds continued to sweep the state.

They said temperatures would likely fall by 4 to 5 degrees in northern Telangana. Adilabad, Nirmal, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy and Asifabad faced strong cold winds through the night and early morning. The chill persisted even after 9 am, showing how sharply conditions had shifted over the week.

The morning hours remained unusually cold, and officials noted that the drop was directly linked to post-festival seasonal changes. Many interior areas recorded longer stretches of low temperatures.

Telangana cold wave expected to intensify further

The weather office said the Telangana cold wave would deepen as clear skies and radiational cooling pushed temperatures down. The alert will remain in effect for two days, and officials have asked vulnerable groups to avoid early morning exposure.

They explained that interior districts faced harsher winds due to open terrain and lower humidity. Residents across the state have been asked to monitor forecasts closely until daytime temperatures stabilise.
