Hyderabad, February 4: The Telangana Cabinet, led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, convened to review findings from the recently conducted socio-economic caste survey and a report on Scheduled Caste (SC) classification.
The report, submitted by Justice Shameem Akhtar, proposed a 15% SC reservation quota, with allocations of 1% for nomadic tribes, 9% for the Madiga sub-caste, and 5% for the Mala sub-caste. The Cabinet also discussed reservation policies for upcoming local body elections.
Following the discussions, the Cabinet is expected to approve the reports and present them in the Assembly for further deliberation. The outcome could significantly impact Telangana’s reservation policies and political landscape.
