Telangana Bhubharathi registration scam triggers Lokayukta probe

Hyderabad: Telangana Bhubharathi registration came under scrutiny after the Lokayukta took suo motu cognisance of serious irregularities that caused losses to the state exchequer.

Officials said the Telangana Bhubharathi registration process enabled diversion of registration fees and stamp duties meant for the government treasury. As a result, accused persons allegedly exploited technical loopholes to manipulate online payments.

Therefore, the Lokayukta ordered a comprehensive inquiry into Telangana Bhubharathi registration irregularities. It directed the Chief Secretary, Chief Commissioner of Land Administration, Commissioner of Stamps and Registrations, Inspector General of Police, MeeSeva Commissioner, and the Jangaon district Registrar to conduct a detailed probe.

Meanwhile, preliminary scrutiny revealed the involvement of a technical network. Under existing rules, challans for Telangana Bhubharathi registration must be paid only through authorised government portals. However, officials found that the accused used third-party applications to alter challan amounts.

Telangana Bhubharathi registration irregularities detected in Jangaon

The Telangana Bhubharathi registration irregularities surfaced in Jangaon district after officials noticed payment discrepancies. On a single day, authorities processed 10 registrations despite ₹8,55,577 not reaching the government treasury.
