Hyderabad: The Telangana Assembly session and the 26th session of the Legislative Council are set to begin on Monday at 11:45 AM. Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla will deliver his inaugural address to both Houses at the start of proceedings.
The state government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, has planned the Telangana Assembly session for ten days. The sessions are expected to focus on the Budget and other key legislative matters.
Meanwhile, the state government will unveil a statue of ‘Telangana Thalli’ on the Assembly premises on Monday. However, leaders of the BRS have objected to the statue’s design.
On Sunday, Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar and Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy held a preparatory meeting at the Assembly Committee Hall. Senior government officials and top police officers attended the meeting to review arrangements for the Telangana Assembly session.
Security and logistics reviewed for Telangana Assembly session
Deputy Chairman Banda Prakash Mudiraj, Legislative Affairs Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, and Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy attended the meeting. Legislative Council Secretary V. Narasimha Charyulu and Assembly Secretary Rendla Tirupati were also present.
Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao joined the meeting along with Principal Secretaries Sandeep Sultania and Rahul Bojja. Finance Secretary Gaurav Uppal and Special Secretary Sikta Patnaik also took part in the discussions.
Senior police officials reviewed security arrangements for the Telangana Assembly session. The meeting included DGP Shivadhar Reddy, ADG Mahesh Bhagwat, Additional DGP Vijayakumar, and city police commissioners V. C. Sajjanar, Avinash Mohanty, and M. Ramesh. Intelligence IG Karthikeya and chief marshals Karnakar and Sanjeeva Reddy also attended.
During the meeting, the Speaker asked officials to ensure full cooperation with the legislature. He noted that the Budget proceedings usually run longer and require careful coordination.
He also stressed the need to maintain a peaceful atmosphere both inside and outside the Assembly. According to the Speaker, strict precautions are essential to prevent any untoward incidents during the Telangana Assembly session.
The Speaker further directed officials to provide information requested by members without delay so that legislative business can proceed smoothly.
