HYDERABAD: In response to intelligence warnings of potential terrorist threats following the recent attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, the Telangana government has placed the state on high alert. With prestigious events like the Bharat Summit and Miss World 2025 scheduled in Hyderabad, the police department has ramped up surveillance and security protocols.
The alert comes ahead of the Bharat Summit, to be held on April 25 and 26, which is expected to feature discussions on national and international political and economic issues. Around 400 delegates, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and representatives from 100 countries, are expected to attend.
Following this, the Miss World 2025 pageant is set to commence from May 7, drawing contestants from approximately 140 countries. With both events drawing global attention, law enforcement agencies face a significant security challenge.
Police have formulated proactive strategies to prevent any untoward incidents. As part of the preparations, strict surveillance will be in place around HICC and the Cyberabad region. The Hyderabad Police have also tightened monitoring in areas previously affected by terror incidents, as well as tourist hotspots.
According to intelligence alerts, the possibility of further attacks across the country remains high in the wake of the Pahalgam incident. In light of this, all units, including Counter Intelligence, have been activated. Special Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari has instructed the state police to remain on full alert, with dedicated monitoring mechanisms in place.
DGP Dr Jitender has issued directives to senior police officials to enhance vigilance and implement precautionary measures. Counter Intelligence teams are gathering information from sensitive zones and placing known offenders under close watch.
From the night of April 24, areas under the jurisdiction of the Cyberabad Commissionerate, including high-profile localities such as Hitech City, frequented by foreign nationals, will be under heightened security. Local police have begun checks in these zones, and increased scrutiny is also planned in the Old City and other sensitive areas.
With these preparations, Telangana authorities are working to ensure that both the Bharat Summit and Miss World 2025 take place without disruption and with the highest levels of safety.
