Hyderabad: Telangana will unveil its “Agriculture Vision 2047” during the upcoming Global Summit in December. This forward-looking document forms a crucial chapter of the broader “Vision Document 2047,” guiding long-term agricultural transformation in the state.
The roadmap aims to promote sustainable, technology-led, and climate-resilient farming. Its primary goals include boosting productivity, increasing farmer incomes, and modernising rural infrastructure over the next two decades.
Telangana Agriculture Vision 2047 to prioritise innovation and farmer income
Chairing a high-level review meeting on Saturday, Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao instructed officials from the agriculture, marketing, handlooms, and textiles departments to align their strategies with Telangana’s vision of becoming a $3 trillion economy by 2047.
To achieve this, he emphasised the need for farmer-focused planning, adoption of precision agriculture, and output-driven quality. Additionally, he urged better utilisation of research capabilities and adherence to international standards in extension services.
The draft document includes proposals on crop diversification, climate-smart farming, efficient water use, and expanded use of agri-tech tools. Rao underscored the importance of embracing global innovations swiftly to empower Telangana’s farming sector.
Furthermore, he called for strategies that improve market linkages and scale up value-added agri-processing, ensuring better income opportunities for farmers.
Present at the meeting were Agriculture Secretary Surendra Mohan, Director Gopi, Horticulture Director Yasmin Basha, and Vice Chancellors Janayya and Rajireddy from the state’s agricultural universities.
