Hyderabad: Task Force officials busted an adulterated ginger-garlic paste unit in Borabanda and arrested one person for illegal manufacturing.
The Commissioner’s Task Force, Khairtabad Zone, along with a GHMC Food Safety Officer, conducted a surprise inspection at Madhura Nagar. Acting on credible inputs, teams uncovered major violations.
Officials arrested Mohd Abdullah for producing and selling adulterated paste. Police registered a case and began investigation.
Task Force uncovers adulterated ginger-garlic unit
During the raid, teams found the accused using sub-standard raw materials. He also mixed chemicals such as acetic acid and excess salt.
The unit operated in unhygienic surroundings. Moreover, workers stored the paste in open containers exposed to dust, flies and contaminants.
Officials said the accused supplied the products to kirana stores, restaurants and catering services across Hyderabad.
During the operation, teams seized 55 kg of paste and 4,275 kg of garlic. In addition, they recovered 150 kg of husk and 800 kg of salt.
They also seized machinery and other materials. The total value stood at around ₹4.5 lakh.
Investigation showed that the accused used an FSSAI licence issued in his father’s name. Therefore, he ran the unit illegally and earned profits.
Police handed over the accused and seized material to Borabanda Police Station. Meanwhile, officials said such drives will continue.
