HYDERABAD: Authorities have identified the suspect involved in the attempted rape of a young woman aboard an MMTS train as Jangam Mahesh, a resident of Gowdavelli village in Medchal-Malkajgiri district.
The incident occurred on Sunday night when the victim was traveling alone in the ladies’ coach from Secunderabad to Medchal. Near Alwal station, a man allegedly attempted to sexually assault her, prompting her to jump from the moving train to escape. She sustained severe injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.
Following the victim’s report, police reviewed CCTV footage from various railway stations along the route. Upon showing her images from the footage, she identified the suspect as Mahesh. Investigations revealed that Mahesh had become addicted to marijuana and had been staying away from home. Currently, police are conducting searches to apprehend him.
