Hyderabad: The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed a petition seeking fresh delimitation of constituencies in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh under Section 26 of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.
Filed in 2022 by Professor Purushotham Reddy, the plea argued that the same legal provision was overlooked during the recent delimitation exercise in Jammu and Kashmir. The petitioner contended that the omission amounted to unequal application of the law.
Rejecting the plea, the bench warned that admitting such a petition would set a precedent leading to a flood of similar cases from other states.
