Student missing at Khandala waterfall in Adilabad amid rain-swollen streams

Hyderabad: A student went missing on Wednesday at the Khandala waterfall in Adilabad district, sparking fresh concern over safety at rain-fed tourist spots.

Manohar Singh, a resident of Adilabad town, had gone to the waterfall near Mollalagutta with a group of friends to take in the swollen cascade after days of heavy rain. Police said the group was swimming and filming videos when Singh suddenly vanished.

With relentless downpours over the past week, streams and waterfalls in the region are brimming. Khandala, in particular, has seen a surge in visitors despite the obvious risks. The powerful inflows have made the area especially dangerous.

After Singh’s family raised the alarm, police launched a search operation—but so far, there’s been no sign of him. His disappearance has left his loved ones distraught and desperate for answers.
