Strict vigil for peaceful Holi celebrations in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Police enforced strict measures for Holi celebrations Hyderabad and warned of firm action against anyone disturbing public order during the festival.

Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar issued the directive during a review meeting held via video conference from TGICCC in Banjara Hills on Monday. He instructed officers to prioritise visible policing to prevent any untoward incidents.

Blue Colts and patrolling teams were directed to maintain continuous vigil across the city. The Commissioner stressed that police would not tolerate misconduct during Holi celebrations Hyderabad.

Holi celebrations Hyderabad under enhanced policing

Sajjanar made it clear that forcibly applying colours on unwilling persons would invite strict action. He also warned against throwing colours on pedestrians and vehicles in public places.

SHE Teams in plain clothes will monitor misbehaviour, particularly against women. In addition, the Commissioner advised citizens to use natural colours instead of chemical-based ones.

Police banned DJs during the festival. Furthermore, officers warned that they would seize vehicles if youths created nuisance by roaming in groups on roads.

Given the ongoing Ramadan month, the Commissioner directed officers to ensure that Muslim prayers proceed without disruption. He asked police to coordinate with peace committees and deploy additional forces in sensitive areas.

Liquor shops, toddy compounds and bars and restaurants within the Hyderabad Commissionerate limits will remain closed from 6 am to 6 pm on March 3. Officials said these restrictions formed part of precautionary steps for Holi celebrations Hyderabad.

Holi celebrations Hyderabad: strict legal action warned

The Commissioner stated that police would register cases under the City Police Act against those violating festival guidelines. He urged citizens to dial 100 immediately if any law and order issue arose.

Moreover, he appealed to residents to cooperate with the police and celebrate Holi peacefully.

Additional Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal, Joint Commissioners Swetha and S.M. Vijay Kumar attended the meeting. DCPs Khare Kiran Prabhakar, Rupesh and Venkata Lakshmi also participated along with other senior officials.

Police said the arrangements aim to ensure safe and harmonious Holi celebrations Hyderabad across the city.
