Hyderabad: The South Central Railway revenue reached an all-time high of ₹21,211.92 crore in 2025-26, marking the fourth consecutive year of record performance.
The South Central Railway reported a 3.12% increase compared to 2024-25. Officials said strong performance in both freight and passenger segments drove the growth.
Freight remained the main contributor to South Central Railway revenue. It generated ₹13,835.27 crore with a loading of 147.87 million tonnes. Meanwhile, passenger revenue rose to ₹6,235.37 crore, reflecting a 9.11% increase over the previous year.
The zone also exceeded Railway Board targets by 1.42%. It carried 286.44 million passengers during the financial year.
South Central Railway revenue driven by freight and passenger growth
Officials said freight operations continued to anchor South Central Railway revenue growth. At the same time, passenger earnings recorded a sharp rise due to higher traffic and improved services.
In addition, other coaching revenue contributed ₹515.18 crore. This included parcel services, ticket checking penalties, and coach bookings.
Moreover, sundry earnings added ₹626.10 crore. These came from catering, parking, non-fare revenue, pay-and-use toilets, and retiring rooms.
The diversified income streams further strengthened SCR revenue. Officials said non-fare segments played a growing role in overall earnings.
Sanjay Kumar Srivastava praised the staff for achieving consistent growth. He urged teams to continue innovation and maintain customer-focused services.
He said sustained efforts in operational efficiency and service quality would help maintain momentum in the coming years.
