Hyderabad: Singareni retirees pension hike was sought by Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna during a meeting with Coal Mines Provident Fund Commissioner Sajeesh Kumar N in New Delhi on Wednesday. He urged officials to enhance pensions for retired Singareni coal workers under the CMPF Scheme, 1998.
The MP pressed for immediate action on the issue. He said retired workers from Singareni faced financial hardship due to low pension amounts. According to him, the existing pension structure did not meet basic living needs.

Gaddam Vamsi Krishna explained that many retired coal workers struggled to manage daily expenses. He said the pension benefits under the current scheme remained inadequate. Therefore, he called for a revision to ensure financial security for retirees.
During the meeting, he stressed that the government must prioritise the welfare of former Singareni employees. He said these workers had contributed significantly to the coal sector and deserved better post-retirement support.

CMPF Commissioner Sajeesh Kumar N responded to the request during the meeting. He assured the MP that officials would examine the proposal sympathetically. He added that authorities would take appropriate steps in line with established procedures.
The discussion focused on improving pension benefits within the framework of the CMPF Scheme, 1998. Officials indicated that they would review the demand and consider possible revisions.
The MP maintained that the Singareni retirees pension hike remained essential to address ongoing financial challenges faced by retired coal workers. He reiterated the need for timely action to improve their livelihoods.
