Hyderabad: The death toll from the explosion at the Sigachi Chemical factory in Pashamylaram near Patancheru has reached 40, with rescue crews working through the night to locate missing workers.
Teams from the National Disaster Response Force, HYDRAA (Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection), and Telangana Fire Disaster Response continued search operations after the factory building collapsed during a rush of people trying to find their family members.
At present, 35 people remain under treatment across hospitals, including 10 reported in critical condition. Officials described this as possibly the worst industrial tragedy recorded in Telangana.
The bodies of the deceased were shifted to the government hospital in Patancheru for postmortem, with state authorities arranging ambulances to transport the remains to their respective hometowns.
