Seethakka says govt prioritises women welfare

Hyderabad: State Women and Child Welfare Minister Seethakka said the government was implementing several women welfare initiatives to support the development and empowerment of women across Telangana.

She made the remarks on Sunday while launching International Women’s Day celebrations at Kumaram Bheem Adivasi Bhavan in Banjara Hills along with State Medical and Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha.

During the programme, the ministers launched 30 types of health tests for members of self-help groups through Telangana Diagnostics. The initiative aims to provide free health screening for women associated with SERP families.

Seethakka thanked the Medical and Health Department for organising the free health tests and said the programme would help women stay healthy while continuing their work and responsibilities.

She also noted that women achieve success through determination, patience, and clear goals.

Women welfare initiatives include health tests and economic support

Highlighting the government’s women welfare initiatives, Seethakka said the state was prioritising the economic and social empowerment of women under the Indiramma Rajyam vision.

She said the government was working with the goal of making one crore women millionaires by strengthening self-help groups and supporting their businesses.

According to the minister, women’s groups were receiving support through loan facilities, accident insurance, and financial assistance. She also noted that Indiramma houses were being constructed for the poor through loans facilitated by women’s groups.

Seethakka said a market worth hundreds of crores of rupees in Hitech City had been allocated to women’s groups to help expand their economic activities. She added that women were entering new sectors, from preparing food products to running rice mills, solar plants, and RTC rental buses.

She also said the government was setting up breastfeeding rooms at bus stations and crowded public places. During the programme, ministers inaugurated model rooms for the facility and HPV vaccination centres for adolescent girls aimed at preventing cervical cancer.

State Women Development Corporation Chairperson Bandaru Shobharani and several senior officials attended the event.
