Hyderabad: Authorities tightened U.S. Consulate security in Hyderabad following protests linked to developments in West Asia and the reported passing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei.
Police stepped up deployment around the American diplomatic mission in Nanakramguda in the Financial District. The move followed instructions issued by officials of the Cyberabad Commissionerate to the Gachibowli police to enforce strict security protocols.
As part of the enhanced U.S. Consulate security measures, law enforcement personnel took positions at key points near the premises. They also kept close watch on access roads leading to the mission.

Police conducted vehicle inspections in areas adjacent to the consulate. In addition, officers increased surveillance across sensitive stretches in the IT corridor.
Authorities focused attention on prominent hotels in the vicinity. They gathered information regarding American nationals and citizens of other countries staying there.
Meanwhile, security agencies expanded monitoring in residential localities inhabited by American citizens. Officials indicated that surveillance measures were strengthened to prevent any untoward incidents.
