Perth, January 8: A tragic seaplane crash near Australia’s Rottnest Island claimed three lives on Tuesday afternoon. The accident involved a Cessna 208 Caravan operated by Swan River Seaplanes, which was carrying seven passengers, including Swiss and Danish tourists.
The seaplane had just taken off from Rottnest Island and was en route to its base at Perth’s Point B when it crashed into the ocean moments after takeoff. Authorities confirmed the deaths of three passengers, while three others sustained injuries. One passenger survived without any injuries.
Emergency services swiftly transported the injured to a Perth hospital for treatment. The cause of the crash is yet to be determined, and investigations are underway.
Rottnest Island, known for its pristine sandy beaches, is a popular tourist destination, especially during the summer months. The incident has raised safety concerns among tourists visiting the region during the peak season.
