Hyderabad: Dozens of Inter first-year seats remain vacant this year in several Centre of Excellence (CoE) colleges under the SC Gurukul Society across Telangana.
Colleges in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Medchal, and Karimnagar districts have failed to achieve full enrollment despite being designated as CoEs. Officials attribute the drop to the new policy of assigning one exclusive CoE campus per stream and transferring students between districts based on course allotment.
In Hyderabad’s Gowlidoddi, the girls’ MPC CoE has 43 of its 160 seats vacant. At Chilkur’s boys’ BiPC CoE, 76 seats are empty. Falaknuma’s girls’ BiPC CoE has 83 unfilled seats out of 200. Similar patterns are reported from Ibrahimpatnam, Hayathnagar, Uppal, Saroornagar, Mahendra Hills, and other city zones.
In Karimnagar’s Rukmapur SC Gurukul Sainik School, the MPC group shows 16 vacancies out of 120.
The SC Gurukul Society is planning spot admissions later this month to fill remaining seats in both general and CoE colleges for the academic year.
