Sammakka–Saralamma Jatara a symbol of Telangana’s self-respect: Bhatti

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu said the Sammakka–Saralamma Jatara is not just a tribal festival but the heartbeat of Telangana and a proud symbol of its self-respect.

On Sunday evening, he visited Medaram to review the Jatara arrangements along with Ministers Sridhar Babu, Konda Surekha, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Seethakka, and Adluri Laxman. He later offered prayers to the deities and addressed the media.

The Deputy Chief Minister announced that the State Government had allocated ₹260 crore for the Sammakka–Saralamma Jatara. Of this, ₹150 crore is for organising the event and ₹110 crore for constructing permanent temple structures. He said these works would highlight the festival’s cultural grandeur globally and ensure a smooth experience for devotees.

He confirmed that 85% of the arrangements were already complete. Officials have been instructed to finish the remaining work by January 15. The team also reviewed all aspects of the planning and made key decisions on-site at Medaram.

Bhatti Vikramarka said funds had already been released. Bills for completed works were being cleared within 24 hours. He added that earlier governments had spent only ₹75 crore to ₹100 crore, while the present government allocated ₹260 crore to elevate the event’s scale.

He urged officials from Health, Electricity, and other departments to stay alert and take the event seriously until its conclusion.
