Hyderabad: City Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar warned of strict action after an assault on a constable during a GHMC encroachment removal drive at Murgi Chowk.
He said GHMC officials, supported by Charminar Division police, were clearing illegal encroachments from Lad Bazar to Puranapool on April 4. However, an unlawful assembly obstructed the operation at Murgi Chowk.
Police identified the accused as Sahil Akber (A-1), Ghouse (A-2, former corporator), and Rahmath Baig (A-3, MLC), along with their associates. During the incident, the accused assaulted a constable who was on duty protecting civic officials.

Further, police registered a case under Crime No. 102/2026 at Hussainialam Police Station under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Authorities initiated action based on the complaint filed after the incident.
Meanwhile, police arrested Sahil Akber and produced him before the court for judicial remand. In addition, teams continued efforts to take legal action against the remaining accused.
Sajjanar said any attempt to obstruct public servants would invite firm action. He stressed that police would deal strictly with those resorting to violence during official duties.
He urged citizens to cooperate with authorities during enforcement drives. Officials said the investigation remains in progress.
