RTC services should come closer to people, says TGSRTC MD Sajjanar

Hyderabad: Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) Managing Director VC Sajjanar on Friday instructed Village and Colony Bus Officers (VBOs) to ensure RTC services should come closer to people, especially in underserved areas.

At a state-level meeting held at RTC Kalabhavan in Bagh Lingampally, Sajjanar emphasized the impact of the ‘Yatradanam’ initiative. The program enables orphans, older people, persons with disabilities, and students to visit pilgrimage and tourist destinations with donor-funded assistance. He described it as part of RTC’s wider commitment to social responsibility.

Sajjanar stated that over 21,000 buses were hired in the current financial year. He urged officers to maintain this momentum during the festive season. He also announced that the new RTC tour packages are receiving positive feedback and will soon expand to include Ayodhya and Varanasi.

The MD confirmed that staff-related issues are being resolved in coordination with the state government. He encouraged VBOs to report local operational challenges without hesitation and remain actively involved with community members.

Executive Directors, CTMs, CPMs, and CEITs also attended the meeting.

The VBO initiative, launched in May 2023, assigns officers to regularly engage with both rural and urban communities. Their duties include responding to route requests, promoting bus rentals for events, and improving last-mile connectivity across regions.
