Rs 1.3 crore jewel heist cracked, Nepali gang members held at border

Hyderabad: Jubilee Hills Police, with support from the Hyderabad City Task Force, have arrested two suspects in connection with a Rs 1.3 crore jewel heist at a residence in Nandagiri Hills. Police recovered stolen gold and diamond ornaments during the operation.

The robbery took place on February 5 and was reportedly planned by absconding accused Jiban Chand. Police said a domestic worker employed at the residence enabled the theft by allowing access to two associates. The intruders allegedly drugged the watchmen and cook before looting the house. At the time, the family was away.

Rs 1.3 crore jewel heist: Police intercept suspects at Indo-Nepal border

Following swift investigation, police tracked down Bhupender Shahi alias Bhuvan (22) and Krishna Chand (23) at the Indo-Nepal border and recovered the stolen property. The two were taken into custody and later remanded to judicial custody on Wednesday.

According to officials, both suspects confessed to their involvement in the theft. The police are continuing efforts to apprehend additional absconding members and recover remaining stolen valuables.

The case has been booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Jubilee Hills Police Station.
