Teams from Mangalhat police, Golconda Task Force, H-FAST and GHMC carried out the joint operation. Subsequently, they detained the proprietor, Mohammad Afroz (41).

Preliminary investigation showed that the accused sourced low-quality and decomposed meat from Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir and Maharashtra. He transported the stock to Hyderabad and stored it for distribution.

Officials said he supplied the spoiled meat to several hotels and restaurants across the city. As a result, the operation posed a serious risk to public health.

Authorities seized and destroyed the entire stock to prevent it from entering the market. They also registered a case and launched a detailed probe to identify the outlets involved.

Officials said they would intensify surveillance on meat supply chains entering the city and take strict action against violators.
