Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy called for water conservation in Hyderabad amid concerns over El Niño conditions. He urged government departments, industries and commercial establishments to use treated wastewater instead of drinking water for non-domestic activities.
In a statement marking the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board’s (HMWSSB) 37th Foundation Day on Sunday, he stressed sustainable water management.
The Chief Minister said Hyderabad’s rapid expansion required greater attention to water security and the protection of drinking water resources. He called for proactive measures to conserve potable water and reduce its use for purposes other than essential domestic requirements.
Water conservation in Hyderabad gains priority amid El Niño concerns
Revanth Reddy highlighted the need to protect drinking water sources against the backdrop of El Niño conditions. He described the launch of the ‘Dial Green Tanker – Green Tanker Operations’ initiative as a timely step towards sustainable water management.
The Chief Minister urged government departments, industries, construction agencies and commercial establishments to make extensive use of treated wastewater.
