Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will flag off the Telangana Haj Committee’s first convoy of Haj pilgrims from Haj House, Nampally, on 29 April. The departure of Haj convoys from Telangana will commence from 29 April and continue until 29 May.
The first flight carrying pilgrims will depart from Hyderabad to Madinah at 2:40 a.m., late that night. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will flag off the buses carrying the pilgrims at 8:30 p.m. from Haj House, Nampally. A special event will be held at the Haj House to mark the occasion, during which the Chief Minister will also deliver an address.
It is reported that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy agreed to flag off the first convoy and directed officials to ensure effective arrangements at the Haj Camp. He instructed that adequate facilities should also be provided for the pilgrims at the airport and sought a detailed report on the arrangements.
The Haj Camp at Haj House will officially begin on 26 April. According to the flight schedule, the first seven convoys will travel from Hyderabad directly to Madinah, while subsequent convoys will fly to Jeddah. Besides 29 April, convoys are also scheduled to depart for Madinah on 30 April, 4 May, 6 May, 11 May, and 13 May.
Pilgrims are required to report to the Haj Camp 48 hours before their flight departure. Accommodation arrangements have been made for pilgrims coming from various districts.
Meanwhile, the Government of Saudi Arabia has imposed a restriction preventing children under 12 years of age from undertaking Haj this year, leading the Haj Committee of India to cancel all applications for children below this age.
Additionally, Telangana Haj Committee Chairman Maulana Syed Ghulam Afzal Biyabani Khusro Pasha inspected the airport and held a meeting with officials from various departments to finalise arrangements for the pilgrims. He stated that a total of around 12,000 pilgrims, including those from other states, would depart from the Hyderabad embarkation point, with approximately 7,000 belonging to Telangana.
