Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy issued a Maoist surrender appeal, urging top leaders of the banned organisation, including Ganapati, to lay down arms and join mainstream life.
He made the appeal after a large group of Maoists surrendered before the Telangana government.
As many as 130 Maoists surrendered along with 124 sophisticated weapons at the Integrated Command and Control Centre in Hyderabad.
Addressing a press conference, the Chief Minister welcomed the development and congratulated those who responded to the government’s Maoist surrender appeal.
Maoist surrender appeal follows mass surrender in Hyderabad
Revanth Reddy said the government was ready to support surrendered extremists and help them return to normal life.
He stated that the government would consider revoking cases registered against them within the framework of the law.
If necessary, the government would also form a committee to review pending cases against those who surrendered under the Maoist surrender appeal.
The Chief Minister said the state government was sympathetic towards the issues raised by the former Maoists.
He added that the government would soon decide on a financial rehabilitation package for them.
According to him, the state would also ensure proper medical care for the surrendered individuals.
The Chief Minister noted that the Union government had given states the flexibility to provide healthcare, financial assistance and housing for surrendered extremists.

Maoist surrender appeal stresses dialogue over violence
Revanth Reddy said proposals submitted by surrendered leaders such as Devji and Damodar had been brought to the attention of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
He expressed hope that those who surrendered would continue to raise people’s issues through democratic means.
The Chief Minister emphasised that social and political problems must be resolved through dialogue.
He said democratic processes were more powerful than violence in addressing public concerns.
According to him, India’s democratic system allows peaceful resolution of conflicts through discussion and negotiation.
He also cited the example of Mahatma Gandhi, who led the independence movement through non-violent struggle.
Revanth Reddy said violence could not solve every problem and urged people to follow democratic methods.
The Chief Minister also appreciated police officers for persuading the extremists to surrender.
He said the police had played an important role in convincing Maoists to respond to the government’s Maoist surrender appeal by assuring them of rehabilitation and support.
