Revanth Reddy raises concerns over Lok Sabha delimitation

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy raised concerns over Lok Sabha delimitation and urged the Centre to build a national consensus.

In a post on X addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said women’s reservation and delimitation were separate issues. While women’s reservation enjoys broad support, delimitation has raised several concerns.

He said implementing women’s quota in state Assembly seats would receive wide acceptance. However, he cautioned against linking it to population-based delimitation at the national level.

Lok Sabha delimitation should not disadvantage southern states

According to Revanth Reddy, a population-based approach may offer short-term political gains. However, it could prove unfair to southern and smaller states.

He warned that such a move could weaken the country in the long run. National interest, he said, must remain above party interests.

He also urged the Centre to explore alternatives instead of a simple pro-rata model for Lok Sabha delimitation. In addition, he called for all-party consultations before taking any decision.

The Chief Minister said he had shared a possible model for consideration and asked the Centre to ensure a fair process.
