Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Friday expressed pride in the Congress Working Committee’s endorsement of Telangana’s caste census model, describing it as a pioneering and transparent approach that sets an example for the nation.
Taking to social media, Reddy highlighted that the CWC, the highest decision-making body of the Indian National Congress, has passed a resolution urging the Central government to consider incorporating a caste census as part of the national population enumeration, while specifically referencing Telangana’s approach as a model worth emulating.
He emphasised that the state government had not designed the caste census behind closed doors or through limited consultations. Instead, it sought broad-based inputs from academics, civil society leaders, caste association representatives, and intellectuals across Telangana. The process, he noted, was conducted with scientific rigour and full transparency.
“The CWC’s recognition of Telangana’s caste census in its resolution is a matter of immense pride for our state,” Reddy wrote. “To see Telangana stand as a role model for a major social transformation is a deeply satisfying moment.”
He further congratulated everyone involved in the successful execution of the caste census, praising the effort as both exceptional and transparent, and underscoring Telangana’s elevated stature at the national level in matters of inclusive governance.
