CM Revanth Reddy calls for stronger implementation of women safety laws

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said governments must ensure effective implementation of women safety laws and not stop at merely framing legislation.

He made the remarks while attending the ‘Stand With Her’ programme at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTU) on Saturday.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said women play a crucial role in the state’s development. Therefore, the government is recognising their talent and giving them greater opportunities.

He also said the Congress government has entrusted women with several responsibilities since coming to power. In addition, many welfare schemes are now delivered in the name of women beneficiaries.

Women safety laws and empowerment initiatives highlighted

Revanth Reddy explained the steps taken to promote women’s economic independence in the state.

He said the government allocated space near HITEC City for Indira Mahila Stalls so women can sell their products.

He also said the government signed an agreement with Amazon to sell products made by rural women through the global e-commerce platform.

Meanwhile, women’s self-help groups are operating nearly 1,000 buses of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC).

According to him, the initiative turned women into business partners rather than only welfare beneficiaries.

The Chief Minister also said the government gives high priority to implementing women safety laws across the state.

He praised women for their contribution to Telangana’s development and assured continued support for their safety and empowerment.
