Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Renuka Chowdary on Saturday lashed out at her party’s leadership over growing internal dissatisfaction, warning that ignoring grassroots workers could cost the party ahead of local elections.
Addressing the media, Chowdary said many Congress workers who had fought hard to bring the party to power in Telangana had been sidelined, while positions were handed to newcomers with no organisational roots or public recognition. She admitted her own deep discontent over party appointments and questioned how ordinary cadre were expected to remain silent.
Referring to the Khammam region, Chowdary criticised the inaction of the three ministers representing the district, asking what they had done to strengthen the party. “I am a daughter of Khammam,” she said, challenging anyone to try and stop her from raising her voice.
Chowdary urged both the state leadership and the AICC high command to address factionalism and correct imbalances in appointments before the local body elections, warning that she would not remain silent if genuine workers continued to be ignored.
