Ranga Reddy sub-registrar office locked by building owner over 38 months unpaid rent

Hyderabad: Tensions flared outside the Abdullapurmet sub-registrar office in Ranga Reddy district on Monday after the building owner locked the premises, alleging 38 months of unpaid rent.

The incident occurred as staff and the public arrived for work and registrations, only to find the office shut. The owner said he had rented out the building 15 years ago and had not received rent for the past 38 months.

Despite repeatedly raising the issue with district officials, he claimed there was no response, forcing him to seal the office. “I work as a mason. There’s a loan on this property, and I’m struggling to pay EMIs,” he said.

In a written notice to the sub-registrar, the owner demanded payment of dues within 15 days and asked the department to vacate the premises within four months. He warned of legal action if the rent was not cleared.
