Ramachander Rao alleges artificial gas shortage, questions Musi project

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president Ramachander Rao alleged that the ongoing gas shortage in the country is artificial and blamed certain sections for creating a crisis.

The remarks came at a press conference held at the party’s State office in Nampally.

According to him, global gas prices have risen due to the Middle East conflict. However, he added that prices remain stable in India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Ramachander Rao raises concerns over Musi project estimates

Ramachander Rao said the Centre reduced gas prices from ₹1,200 to ₹900 to ease the burden on consumers.

He accused opposition parties of spreading fear for political gain.

Meanwhile, he questioned the State government’s approach to the Musi project.

The government initially estimated the project cost at ₹5,000 crore. Later, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy revised it to ₹7,000 crore.

He asked how much the cost would rise once the project begins.

On the project, Ramachander Rao said the BJP does not oppose cleaning of the Musi river. However, he demanded rehabilitation for poor residents before starting the work.

He also sought clarity on how the government plans to stop sewage inflow into the river.

The BJP leader questioned whether a proper DPR exists for the project.

He said there is no need to trouble poor families in the name of a 50-metre buffer zone.
