Hyderabad, January 25: Goshamahal BJP MLA Raja Singh has alleged that Telangana has become a hub for bribery under Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. He claimed that corruption among police officials has escalated since Revanth Reddy took office.
In a video message, Raja Singh cited an audio clip involving Ravi Kumar, an inspector at Jamikunta police station in Karimnagar district. The clip allegedly reveals Kumar accepting a Rs 3 lakh bribe in a case, with the money reportedly hidden in a restroom. The victim in the case has requested higher authorities to review CCTV footage.
Raja Singh also highlighted a recent incident in Goshamahal, where Shahinayath Gunj police station CI A Babu Chauhan allegedly demanded Rs 1.5 lakh to remove a name from a case. The bribe was reportedly settled at Rs 50,000 before Chauhan was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
The MLA claimed several police officers have been arrested for accepting bribes this year. He urged Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand to tackle the issue by installing CCTV cameras in police chambers. “After filing false cases, demanding money to clear names is unacceptable. Officers caught taking bribes should be removed from service, not just suspended,” Raja Singh said. He also appealed to CM Revanth Reddy to issue a special government order (GO) to address bribery in the state.
