Hyderabad: Heavy rain Hyderabad triggered severe traffic disruptions across the city on Friday, with floodwater and mud clogging major roads and halting vehicle movement for hours.
In Qutbullapur constituency, a four-kilometre stretch between Jeedimetla Depot and Suraram Malla Reddy Hospital remained choked as vehicles inched forward through waterlogged, slippery roads.
On the Kompally stretch of the National Highway, ongoing flyover construction only made things worse. Pits dug at the site filled up with rainwater, and instead of draining it away properly, a proclainer was used to pump the water straight onto the road—turning the stretch into a slushy mess and piling on more mud.
Over at Suraram, near Malla Reddy Hospital, freshly dug trenches for pipeline work had become mini reservoirs. The soaked, muddy roads left traffic crawling, with long delays and another round of gridlock drivers had to endure.
