Hyderabad: QR code waste collection system will be strengthened to improve accountability and ensure daily garbage lifting from every household, GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan said on Tuesday.
He inspected the pilot QR code waste collection project at Nalanda Nagar in Hyderguda under Attapur Circle of Rajendranagar Zone. Zonal Commissioner Anurag Jayanti, Additional Commissioner (Sanitation) Ravi Kiran and Deputy Commissioner Sammaiah accompanied him.
During the visit, officials explained how the waste collection mechanism tracked door-to-door garbage lifting. Later, the Commissioner conducted a surprise field inspection to assess the performance of Swachh Autos engaged in collection work.
QR code waste collection to ensure daily monitoring
Karnan said Swachh Auto workers played a key role in transforming Greater Hyderabad into a clean city. He directed Deputy Commissioners and Solid Waste Management officials, including DEEs and AEs, to ensure that waste collection covered every household without fail.
He asked officials to identify households that failed to hand over waste and motivate residents to cooperate. At the same time, he warned that negligence in attendance, worker performance or supervision would not be tolerated.
The Commissioner instructed officials to respond swiftly to sanitation complaints. He also stressed the need for awareness drives and outreach programmes to strengthen public participation in cleanliness efforts.
Officials said that if the pilot QR code waste collection project showed positive results, the civic body would prepare plans to expand it across GHMC limits.
