Pride Dairy adulterated ghee racket busted in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Police busted a Pride Dairy adulterated ghee manufacturing unit in Banjara Hills and arrested its owner for allegedly producing and selling adulterated dairy products.

The Commissioner’s Task Force (Golconda Team), along with Masabtank Police, conducted the raid at a dairy unit named Pride Dairy. The facility operated from Bhola Nagar in the Banjara Hills Road area.

Officials apprehended Mohammed Junaid Hussain, 26, during the operation. He is the son of Mohammed Mouzam Hussain and a resident of Bhola Nagar.

Police said Hussain had been running the dairy unit and manufacturing Pride Dairy adulterated ghee by mixing palm oil, vanaspati (Dalda), and other inferior substances with cow and buffalo cream.

During the raid, officers seized adulterated dairy products and machinery worth ₹18.27 lakh.

The seized items included 460 kg of adulterated ghee and 70 kg of adulterated mixed ghee. Police also confiscated 2,090 kg of adulterated cow cream and 1,170 kg of adulterated buffalo cream.

In addition, officers recovered 28 tins of Ruchi Gold vanaspati (Dalda), used oil packets, and empty tins. They also seized two boilers, a pushing machine, a packing machine, and two weighing machines.

The team further recovered four gas cylinders, 25 empty drums, and packing covers used for distribution.

Pride Dairy adulterated ghee sold to public and hotels

Investigators said the accused held a valid licence to operate the dairy unit. However, he allegedly used palm oil, vanaspati, and other low-quality ingredients to produce Pride Dairy adulterated ghee.

Officials stated that the adulterated products were sold as pure ghee. According to police, the goods were supplied to members of the public, hotels, and event organisers.

Authorities warned that the sale of such products posed a serious risk to public health.

Following the raid, police registered a case at Masabtank Police Station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Investigators have launched further inquiries to determine the distribution network of the Pride Dairy adulterated ghee products.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Ande Srinivasa Rao, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Commissioner’s Task Force, Hyderabad City.

The raid was closely supervised by R. Venkatesh, Inspector of Golconda Zone Task Force, and A. Praveen Kumar, Inspector of Masab Tank Police Station.

G. Vijayanand, Sub-Inspector of Police, Golconda Zone Task Force, and G. Chandana, Sub-Inspector of Masab Tank Police Station, also participated in the operation along with their teams.
