President Droupadi Murmu invited to Medaram Maha Jatara 2026

Hyderabad: President Droupadi Murmu has been formally invited by the Telangana government to attend the Medaram Maha Jatara 2026, scheduled to take place from January 28 to 31 in Mulugu district.

Ministers Seethakka, Konda Surekha, and Adluri Lakshman Kumar met the President at the Rashtrapati Nilayam in Bollaram on Sunday. They extended the official invitation and presented her with a saree, bracelet, and shawl representing Goddess Sammakka, in keeping with the festival’s customs.

Minister Seethakka briefed the President on the cultural and historical significance of the Medaram Maha Jatara. She explained its importance in tribal traditions, the legacy of Goddesses Sammakka and Saralamma, and the widespread public devotion. The Minister also outlined the development work underway in Medaram and the preparations for the upcoming Jatara.

President Murmu expressed deep interest in the details shared and appreciated the efforts to preserve tribal heritage. She said she would make every effort to attend the festival.

She thanked the state government for the invitation and presented new clothes to the visiting Ministers as a gesture of goodwill. The President also commended Telangana’s initiatives to support and celebrate tribal culture.
