CM Revanth Reddy vows to revive Pranahita Chevella project

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday said the government would revive the Pranahita Chevella project at Tummidihatti and take up its execution soon to improve irrigation in Adilabad.

Addressing a public meeting at Pipri in Adilabad district, he said the State would complete all pending irrigation projects. He stated that reviving the Pranahita Chevella project remained a priority.

“We will resume the Pranahita-Chevella project at Tummidihatti. It is my responsibility to provide irrigation water to Adilabad,” he said. He added that the project would help transform the region into fertile land.

The Chief Minister also announced that the foundation stone for Adilabad Airport would be laid on June 2, marking Telangana Formation Day. He said the district would soon gain air connectivity despite its earlier poor transport facilities.

He added that the State government held multiple meetings with the Centre to secure approval for the airport. He said this initiative would improve connectivity and support regional development alongside the Pranahita Chevella project.

Responding to BRS allegations on market yard development, he criticised the previous government. He said the BRS ruled for 10 years but did not deliver significant development works.

He stated that people rejected “Gadi Palana” and gave a mandate to what he described as a people’s government. He also urged the opposition to maintain dignity and restraint.

Pranahita Chevella project part of wider development plan

Revanth Reddy said the Congress would continue in power until 2034. He added that the party returned to power after fighting on public issues despite facing cases under the previous regime.

He said he would focus on governance outside election periods and prioritise development. He also noted that the government invited opposition leaders to public meetings, which he said marked a change from past practices.

He added that development works were being sanctioned across constituencies, including those represented by opposition parties. He said initiatives like Young India Integrated Schools and welfare schemes aimed to reduce hardship regardless of voting patterns.

Outlining plans for Adilabad, he said the tribal-dominated district would develop into a hub for industry, education, and tourism. He said land acquisition was progressing for a university, and authorities would lay its foundation stone soon.

The Chief Minister said the government had sanctioned ₹225 crore for the Basara Gnana Saraswati Temple. He added that officials would provide additional funds if required.

He said authorities were also preparing estimates for the development of the Gudem Satyanarayana Swamy Temple. He added that he would visit Adilabad every two months to review progress and sanction funds.

“Our mission is to see happiness in every eye of the poor. We are not rulers. We are the servants of the people,” Revanth Reddy said.
