CS asks collectors to prepare for Praja Palana programme

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao asked district collectors to coordinate closely and ensure preparations for Praja Palana starting from March 6 across Telangana.

He held a teleconference with collectors on Wednesday evening to review arrangements for the programme. Senior officials from several key departments also joined the discussion.

Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Special Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar, Finance Principal Secretary Sandeep Sultania, Municipal Administration Principal Secretary T K Sridevi and Planning Department Special Secretary Gaurav Uppal attended the teleconference.

Praja Palana programme to run for 99 days

The Chief Secretary said the government would conduct the programme for 99 days from March 6 to June 12 in five phases. Moreover, he described the initiative as a major governance effort of the state government.

Accordingly, collectors were asked to organise preparatory meetings at the combined district headquarters with the district in-charge ministers. In addition, they should invite key public representatives from the districts.

Furthermore, officials will organise awareness meetings on March 12 for newly elected municipal chairpersons, mayors, ward councillors, corporators and sarpanches. The Panchayat Raj and Municipal Administration departments will coordinate the arrangements.

Meanwhile, authorities will implement the programme at village, mandal, constituency, district and state levels. The government will also issue operational guidelines from time to time.
