Praja Paalana review directs Gram Sabhas from April 2

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao directed District Collectors to conduct Gram Sabhas and Ward Sabhas from April 2 during the Praja Paalana review, stressing strict adherence to standard procedures and public participation.

He issued the directions during a video conference held to assess the implementation of the 99 Days Praja Paalana Pragati Pranalika, a key governance outreach programme of the State Government. The Chief Secretary emphasised that all sabhas must follow the prescribed Standard Operating Procedures and be conducted in a structured and transparent manner.

Officials were instructed to ensure active involvement of public representatives and mobilise citizen participation. The Chief Secretary said the Praja Paalana review aimed to strengthen direct engagement with the public and improve service delivery at the grassroots level.

He further directed that citizens should be clearly informed about flagship schemes, ongoing welfare programmes, and new initiatives announced in the State Budget. Additionally, officials were asked to systematically collect feedback from beneficiaries during the sabhas to assess programme effectiveness and identify gaps.

Secretary (Planning) Gaurav Uppal briefed Collectors on the sequence of activities to be followed during Gram Sabhas to ensure uniform implementation across districts. He explained the structured agenda designed to improve consistency and outcomes.

Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development, T K Sridevi, said municipal staff achieving 100 per cent tax collection would be felicitated during Ward Sabhas to encourage better urban governance practices.

Principal Secretary (Health) Christina Zongthu informed that a Health Week would be observed across the State from April 6, featuring special health programmes and awareness activities. Senior officials, including Principal Secretary Sridhar, also participated in the review meeting.
