Hyderabad: Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao on Tuesday directed district collectors to conduct Praja Paalana Gram Sabhas from April 2 under the 99 Days Praja Paalana Pragati Pranalika.
During a video conference, he reviewed progress and instructed officials to organise Gram Sabhas and Ward Sabhas strictly as per Standard Operating Procedures. He stressed that officials must follow these guidelines without deviation.
He said officials must conduct the Praja Paalana Gram Sabhas in a structured and transparent manner. He also asked public representatives at all levels to actively participate in the process.
Praja Paalana Gram Sabhas to focus on public participation
The Chief Secretary described the programme as a key mass outreach initiative. Therefore, he urged officials to ensure wide public participation in the Praja Paalana Gram Sabhas.
He directed officials to clearly explain flagship schemes, ongoing welfare programmes and new Budget initiatives to citizens. As a result, awareness would improve programme reach and effectiveness.
Moreover, he asked officials to systematically collect beneficiary feedback during the Praja Paalana. This step would help the government assess outcomes and identify gaps.
The Chief Secretary said success depends on strong field execution and inter-departmental coordination. Hence, he directed collectors to plan and implement the Praja Paalana Gram Sabhas carefully.
Secretary (Planning) Gaurav Uppal briefed collectors on the activity sequence. He also explained the structured agenda to maintain uniformity across districts.
Meanwhile, Secretary MA&UD T.K. Sridevi said officials would felicitate municipal staff who achieved 100 percent tax collection during Ward Sabhas. This move aims to encourage better performance.
Additionally, Principal Secretary (Health) Christina Zongthu said the State would observe a health week from April 6. During this period, officials will conduct special health activities and awareness programmes.
Principal Secretary Sridhar and other senior officials also attended the meeting. Overall, the directions reinforced the role of the Praja Paalana Gram Sabhas in strengthening governance and public engagement.
