Hyderabad: A POCSO court in Hyderabad sentenced a 22-year-old man to five years of rigorous imprisonment in a child abuse case registered in 2020.
The Special Sessions Court at HACA Bhavan, presided over by Judge G Uday Bhaskar Rao, convicted Abdul Salman, a mason from Bandlaguda. The court also imposed a fine of ₹20,000.
The court found him guilty under Sections 354 and 506 of the IPC and Section 12 read with Section 11 of the POCSO Act. The case was initially registered at Chandrayangutta Police Station and later transferred to Bandlaguda.

Further, the incident occurred on January 29, 2020, near Ghouse Nagar. The accused lured five minor girls aged between 5 and 9 years by offering to show magic tricks.
He then took them into a hut and showed obscene videos. He also restrained and threatened them before fleeing from the spot.
Meanwhile, officials recorded the victims’ statements at the Bharosa Centre in a child-friendly environment. Authorities ensured proper procedures during the investigation.
The Bharosa team provided counselling and emotional support to the victims and their families. In addition, they offered continuous assistance throughout the case.
The conviction brought relief to the affected family. Officials said the case highlighted the importance of support systems for victims.
