Hyderabad: A POCSO case ended in conviction in Hyderabad, with a Fast Track Court sentencing two accused to long prison terms for assaulting a minor girl.
The Fast Track POCSO Court at HACA Bhavan found Mohammed (24) and Ishaq Khan (19) guilty in the case registered at Chandrayangutta Police Station. The court sentenced Mohammed to 30 years and Ishaq Khan to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment.
POCSO case leads to strict punishment
The court also sentenced Mohammed to an additional two years under Section 506 IPC for criminal intimidation. It imposed fines on both the accused and awarded ₹5 lakh compensation to the victim, along with amounts from the penalties.
The case surfaced after the victim’s mother noticed distress in her nine-year-old daughter. She approached the police, who registered a case and began an investigation.
Investigators arrested the accused and filed a charge sheet after collecting evidence. Subsequently, the prosecution presented the case before the court.
Officials said coordinated efforts by investigation officers and the prosecution team ensured the conviction. The court delivered the judgment after examining the evidence.
