52-year-old man sentenced in Chikkadpally POCSO case

Hyderabad: A POCSO case in Chikkadpally ended in conviction, with a court sentencing a 52-year-old man for offences against a minor girl.

Special Sessions Judge G. Uday Bhaskar Rao at HACA Bhavan convicted Chuvva Veeresh (52), a resident of Surya Nagar, Chikkadpally. The court sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment of one year, three months and 23 days and imposed a fine of ₹1,500.

POCSO case leads to conviction in Chikkadpally

According to police, the incident occurred when the 11-year-old victim was returning home after buying groceries. At that time, the accused intercepted her and took her into his house, where he behaved in an objectionable manner.

However, the girl managed to escape and informed her mother. Subsequently, the police registered a case and began an investigation.

Officials then referred the victim to the Bharosa Centre for recording her statement and support. Thereafter, the team provided counselling and continuous assistance to the victim and her family.

Investigators and the prosecution presented evidence before the court. As a result, the court delivered the conviction.

Meanwhile, police said coordinated efforts by investigation officers, legal teams and Bharosa staff ensured justice. In addition, senior officers of the Women’s Safety Wing closely monitored the case.

City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar also appreciated the efforts of all teams involved in securing the conviction.
